How to Set Up Price Alerts

Last updated 23 days ago

Price Alerts allow traders to partially automate their market monitoring activities by setting up automatic notifications to notify the trader of desired price movements and market volatility. To set up a Price Alert, navigate to the .

  1. On the chart, click the Price Alerts widget:

  1. In the Price Alerts menu, click 'CREATE ALERT':

Type: Target Price

This alert type is based on the asset reaching the trader's exact price. This alert will trigger if the price of an asset reaches the specific price set by the trader - i.e the Target Price.

For example, in the image below the Target Price for BTC is an increase(+) to $97,392.0:

This alert will trigger if the price of BTC increases(+) and reaches the specified price of 97,392.0.

Type: Market Volatility

This alert type monitors historical data based on market volatility - i.e the percentage change of an asset's price in any direction. This alert will trigger if the price of an asset has changed by the set percentage during the selected Timeframe (1m, 5m, 1h or 24h)- i.e the Market Volatility percentage.

How Timeframes are calculated:

When selecting a Market Volatility type alert, an additional value must always be selected - the Timeframe (1m, 5m, 1h or 24h):

Market volatility alerts are based on historical data in the past 5m, 30m, 1h or 24h. Market volatility is calculated based on the difference between the first price and latest price for the selected Timeframe. Let's assume it is currently 12:00. Selecting a 24 hour timeframe means that market volatility will be calculated from 12:00 of the PREVIOUS day to 12:00 of the CURRENT day. At 12:01, market volatility will be recalculated taking into account the timeframe of 12:01 of the PREVIOUS day to 12:01 of the CURRENT day For example, in the image below the set Market Volatility percentage for BTC is 8%:

This alert will trigger if the price of BTC has increased(+) or decreased(-) by 8% in the last 24 hours from the current moment.

  1. Next, select additional alert parameters as per your preferences , such as a custom note, where to receive notifications (mobile and/or web) as well as notification frequency. Click 'Set Up' to activate your alert:

When enabling price alert notifications for the Mobile App - make sure that you've enabled PUSH notifications for the Margex mobile app in your mobile device system settings.

Great! Now your alert is active and will be triggered if the specified conditions are met. All active alerts can be found in the Alerts List. Here you can find the Edit and Delete buttons to edit your alerts or delete old/unwanted alerts respectively.

Once an alert is triggered, a corresponding notification will appear as a PUSH-notification (for mobile apps) and/or in the account Notification feed for the web version:

Next, select your alert type based on or :
